The theme of our winter Morning Glories is, “Praying for the next generation”.

Mrs. Janie Allen will be teaching on that topic, followed by a prayer shower for all of the babies born into our Christ Church family this year. Coffee and refreshments will be available beginning at 8:30 and the teaching will begin at 9:00. We will conclude our time at 11:30. Extended family and guests are welcome and we encourage our families to use this as an opportunity to let others experience the joy of showering this generation with the fervent, effectual prayers of those Christ has made righteous.

Our vision is to offer a church wide prayer shower each December for all of the babies born that year. Every Blessing, Julie

Dear Saints,

I am very excited to be resuming our Wednesday evening worship on September 7th. I know that many of you are equally eager, and that you are anticipating the opportunity to feast on the means of grace. As Christians, it is vital to our spiritual journey that we avail ourselves to every opportunity for biblical instruction, prayer, and spiritual fellowship. Wednesday evening allows us to capture all of these and provides the nourishment needed for both body and soul. I want personally, to encourage each of you to come with your families so you can share in this sweet time.

Of course, the blessing of Wednesday evenings should not be restricted to the folks at Christ Church. The second chapter of John’s gospel records the calling of the first disciples. In this account we read that, “Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph’” (2:45). When Philip realized who it was that called him, the first thing he wanted to do was to introduce Christ to someone else. That is what disciple making is—introducing others to Christ! Along with our own spiritual nourishment, Wednesday evenings afford us the opportunity to introduce others to Christ. Let me encourage you to prayerfully consider whom you can invite to join you on Wednesday evenings. Ask the Lord to reveal your “Nathanael” and to give you the courage to introduce them to Christ by inviting them to join you.

I look forward to being with all of you very soon, and to the time we will invest in the Pastoral Epistles—I and II Timothy and Titus. Please pray that the Lord will bless our time together and that your outreach efforts will yield a harvest of new disciples!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Legare

How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.O God, Thou art awesome from Thy sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God! (Gen. 28:17; Ps. 68:35).

Dear Saints,

We look forward with holy anticipation to the labors of the Spirit of Christ in our hearts during the coming year. He has accomplished much over this past decade and He is gifting us with every confidence that His workings within us and through us have not ceased. The beloved of the Lord are increasing in boldness, the weak are increasing in strength, darling sins are being stripped away and the voice of this world’s charmer is falling upon ears deaf to evil.

Each of you brethren is acutely aware of the movement of the Holy Spirit amongst us all. How many times have you noticed in a Bible study, an hour of discipleship, a Sunday school lesson or a Wednesday teaching the Spirit of Christ knitting a message just for your heart? There is no one teacher in any church today able to provide you with a perfectly balanced spiritual diet, for all your earthly teachers are but sinners lacking in the Lord’s faultless balance. You will discover the Lord’s extraordinary steadiness when you avail yourself of all the opportunities He presents through the teachers of Christ Churchians.

The common policy of our churches is that of great prudence. We do not, as a rule, attempt anything beyond our strength. We measure means, and calculate possibilities with economical accuracy; then we strike off a large discount for contingencies, and a still larger percentage as provision for our ease, and so we accomplish little because we have no idea of doing much. (C. H. Spurgeon)

In those churches, I met people who saw themselves, not as a precautious service organization, but as a wartime army engaged in battle. Within their often ordinary lives they displayed a remarkable sense of purpose. They were serious about their faith without taking on self-righteous airs. They were comfortable with spiritual warfare terminology without casting themselves as the heroes in God’s work. They were convinced that there was too much to gain in God’s service to worry about possible losses. They were more concerned about following the Lord than about what it might cost along the way. Their attitude was contagious! I determined then that only a prevailing church would be worthy of my full devotion. (Reverend Randy Pope)
