Student Ministry

The Student Ministry of Christ Church seeks to assist parents in their responsibility of raising godly children.   We firmly believe the Bible teaches that parents are the primary spiritual leaders in their children lives and everything we do – we do as a desire to supplement the spiritual instruction and example they should already be receiving at home.

Philosophy of Ministry

The foundation of the Student Ministry is to give God the glory He deserves (Worship). By investing our lives in others (Ministry), we aim to equip students with the Word of God (Discipleship), unite them with the body of Christ (Fellowship) and challenge them to reach unbelievers with His life changing truths (Evangelism).

What we offer weekly: Sunday Seminar and PrimeTime

Sunday Seminar (Nine Fifteen until Ten Fifteen o'clock in the morning)

  • Sunday (sun’da, -de): the first day of the week: also called the "Sabbath" or "the Lord’s Day."
  • Seminar (sem’e nar’): a group of supervised students doing advanced studies.
    • This seminar is an excellent way to start out the week and an awesome environment for a teenager to meet new friends and grow in their trust in Christ. Each lesson is very engaging and encourages a lot of group discussion as you advance deeper into God’s Word.
PrimeTime (Four Fifteen until Five Forty Five o'clock in the evening)
  • PrimeTime, welcomes all junior and senior high students (7th - 12th grade) to participate. Come meet new friends and have fun as we make a joyful noise, hear God's Word taught in a way that makes sense and beome a part of a small group discussion helping you apply what you heard to your life. You do not want to miss this time! Parents are always welcome to attend. Come see for yourself or check out our Student Ministry page for more information.

Sunday Seminar and PrimeTime are designed to meet the spiritual needs of students in 7th to 12th grade and both meet in the Student Ministry Room at Christ Church.  To Learn more about these weekly offerings or to find out what is being taught, please contact the Student Ministry office at 803-254-5055.  And just so you know, parents are always welcome to attend Sunday Seminar or PrimeTime (even unannounced) just to see what we are all about!

    What we offer seasonally: D-Groups

    D-groups

    • D-groups is short for discipleship groups and it is another opportunity we provide for your child to grow to maturity in their trusting in Christ. D-groups are led by various members of the Youth Staff throughout the year and are conveniently scheduled at a day/time of the week that works for you and your family.

What we offer monthly: Special Events

    Special Events
    • Every special event we host or promote embodies our philosophy of ministry.   Some of our events are designed entirely for fellowship – an opportunity for young people to meet and get to know other Christian youth.  Other special events have more of an evangelism or ministry goal – an opportunity foryouth to share their faith and serve others with their God given spiritual gifts.   Regardless of what we do, we trust that God is given the glory due His name and that you as a parent are comfortable with your child’s participation.

    • Some examples of past special events are: weekend advances, paintball, bowling, mini-golf, skiing, mission projects (Keswick, England, Mississippi and Columbia), parties, work projects, movies, rock climbing, sky diving, and much more!   To find out what, where & when our next special event is, please contact our Director of Student Ministries, Mr. Rodney (Rod) Arters ( EMAIL) or you may call the Student Ministry office, 803-254-5055.

The Student Ministry of Christ Church exists to assist parents towards that goal. If we can encourage you in your own walk with God, equip you to pass on your trust in Christ to your children or motivate you to live out God’s principles more consistently in your own home, please do not hesistate to contact us. We just so you know, parents are always welcome to attend Sunday Seminar or PrimeTime (even unannounced) just to see what we are all about!

    eWord to the parents

    • Speaking of words to parents, for those of you who are technologically savvy, we would welcome the opportunity to keep you up-to-date with our announcements and special events via e-mail. If we do not currently have your e-mail address, would you kindly email us so we may add you to our list? Fear not - we do not send you anything other than what pertains to the Student Ministry at Christ Church.

    Parent Meetings

    • Several times a year we host a meeting just for parents. These parents allow us an opportunity to personally communicate our unique philosophy of ministry and how that philosophy not only guides what we do but also why we do it. We will discuss our calendar as well as allow you an opportunity to voice your suggestins, questions, and concerns. To find out when our next Parent’s meeting is - e-mail us!

    S.A.M. (Spiritual Assessment Meeting)

    • At least once a year school teachers will meet with parents of their students to discuss their student’s academic progress over the course of the year. Rod Arters is also available during the year to meet with any parents interested in discussing their child’s spiritual growth (and your spiritual goals) and how we can best work alongside each family in reaching your spiritual goals for your son or daughter. Do not hesitate to contact Mr. Arters at your convenience to schedule a meeting! We are here to serve you.
